THE FIPRESCI JURY

Since 2018, Duhok IFF has had the honor to host a FIPRESCI Jury and this year is no exception. See below the FIPRESCI representatives who will be attending this year’s festival. 

Giulia Dobre is a visual anthropologist who works for the Romanian National Radio as well as numerous publications in Romania. Dobre received her BA, MA, and Ph.D. degrees in cinema studies and visual anthropology at the UNATC in Bucharest, San Francisco State University, and Berkeley University.

Sebahattin Şen graduated in Communication and Sociology and earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2016. Şen’s research topics include colonialism, postcolonial theory, film studies, and Turkish and Kurdish cinema. His book “GHOST ON THE BOARD: The Constitution of Kurdishness and Turkishness in Turkish Cinema” was released in 2019.

Vassilis Kechagias was born in Thessaloniki and apart from being a dentist,  he has since 1982 been actively involved in film criticism. He is a member of the Panhellenic Association of Film Critics since 1984 and its President since 2009. Kechagias worked as a journalist for the newspaper MAKEDONIA among others and was a presenter of television programs on the state television channel ERT 3.
