World Cinema: International Short films at the 2nd Duhok IFF 2013

As part of its World Cinema section the 2nd Duhok IFF will present 24 short films by international directors from countries as diverse as China, Iran, Canada, USA, Turkey, Korea, France, Iraq, Spain, Brazil, India, Australia, Armenia, Russia, Poland and Iceland. Among our international short films are many which were awarded at renowned festivals, including the Winner of the Berlinale 2013 Best Short Film Award LA FUGUE by French director Jean-Bernard Marlin.

Within the different sections of the festival programme the World Cinema section plays a special role, opening a window to the crème de la crème of worldwide filmmaking.

World Cinema Competition at the 2nd Duhok IFF

At the World Cinema section of the Duhok International Film Festival's programme there will be 3 documentaries and 9 feature-films competing for the awards for the Best Feature-Length Film (Yılmaz Güney award), Best First or Second Feature-Length Film (New Talent Award) and Best Documentary given by our international jury.

We are delighted to announce the list of films from the World Cinema programme in competition:


Kurdish Cinema Competition at the 2nd Duhok IFF

The festival is delighted to hereby announce the Kurdish Cinema films competing for the Duhok IFF awards for the Best Kurdish Film, Best Documentary, Best Director, Best Script, and Best Actor/Actress. The Kurdish short films will compete for the Goethe-Institute Award, the Jury Award and the Cinema Directory Award. Additionally the Kurdish Writer’s Association will give an award for the Best Film to a Kurdish filmmaker based outside of Kurdistan. The Duhok City Award will go to the Best Feature-Length Film shot in the Bahdinan region.
