The Duhok International Film Festival continuously develops its recognizable concept as an international film festival. The upcoming 5th edition will be enhanced in several segments, which will create additional value for film professionals and general audiences alike. The Segments were announced today’s in the first Press Conference of Duhok IFF 5th Edition which was held in the festival’s Center in Duhok.
Based on the evaluation of the previous editions, the Festival Artistic Management has decided to strengthen synergies between the existing programming by presenting new programs. The festival is launching two new - non-competitive programmes - “World Cinema Visions” will showcase outstanding feature, short, and documentary films that offer broad cinematic viewpoints and the world emerging cinema vision. “Kurdish Cinema Panorama” showcasing Kurdish films of the year, including feature, shorts, and documentaries.
This year, the Duhok International Film Festival will present a new Jury - Documentary Film Jury - intended for the two competitive sections of Kurdish and World Documentaries. The new jury will include five members consisted of film professionals, Documentary film directors, and documentary film experts and will hand out two Golden Leaf Awards for the best Kurdish documentary and the best World Documentary. This will bring a special attention to the Documentary films and will help to develop this section which is growing distinctly.
Also, new Awards format is presented this year in Duhok IFF. The festival will hand out five Golden Leaf Awards only for the best films, along with eight Silver Leaf Awards for winners of special awards in all competitive sections, while Yilmaz Guney Award remains as the main Award of Duhok IFF.
