1st PRICE - THE SOUND OF RAIN

Directed by Jalal Said Pana

THE SOUND OF RAIN successfully turns a small story into a big cinematic event. Its refined and innovative film language and with great emotional impact. A wonderful humorous allegory that functions on multiple levels.

2nd PRICE - SIDE WALK

Directed by Berivan Binevsa

Staged as an intimate minimalist play, SIDEWALK convincingly describes the psychological and personal impact of forced exile. Without the use of pathos, but with subtle melancholy and tender humor, it tells the story of the changes in a couple's personal lives and societal roles that come with emigration. While the film may portray isolation, it does it in a way that always suggest the spark of hope.

3rd PRIZE - BERA BERBANGE

Directed by Arin Inan Aslan

Without resorting to conventional narrative short film strategies, this courageous film paints a captivating picture of the gloomy situation of a minority group of Kurds in Derzim. The atmospheric and sparse imagery, photographed in long takes and with subtle lighting, points inwards; towards an inner darkness experienced by these people who are living in devastated villages.
